We have this framed colour photo of Dashwood in the archive, but there are no clues as to why it was taken, or by whom. To see the photo at full size, simply click on it.

To date the picture, we can look at the facts:

  • The quickthorn hedge has already been planted – this means it was definitely taken after 1983 while Fred Riches was head
  • Trees on the playground have already been chopped down – this took place in 1986 and 1987
  • There is no gate from the playground to the Dashwood Road side of the school
  • The double gates from Marlborough Place have not yet been replaced with the gold and black gates, and neither has the small gate to Newland Road (we aren’t sure of the date these gates were installed but it was definitely during Fred Riches’ time as head)

If you have any other information, or can spot any other clues from the photograph to help date it, do get in touch and let us know!
